WGIV Program Director A.C. Stowe Dies

Alvin A.C. Stowe, program director for WGIV AM/FM in Charlotte and host of The A.C. Stowe Morning Show, made his transition Saturday, June 23rd at 11:05 a.m.  

Alvin “AC” Stowe was a 30-year veteran programmer in the radio industry. He began his career at his alma mater, Shaw University’s WSHA-FM. His list of stations include Top 40 G-105 and Adult Contemporary WDNC in Durham, N.C. He also implemented the format switch to Urban AC at WFXC & WDUR in Durham, which went #1 under his tenure.

Other programming stops included WBLX in Mobile, Alabama and WMGL in Charleston, S.C. where he implemented the format switch from Top 40 to Urban AC. After a 10 year hiatus as Regional Promotions Manger for Atlantic Records, A.C. got back to programming at WQMG in Greensboro, N.C. which posted its first #1 book under his leadership, WQNC & WPZS Charlotte, N.C.

Family services for Stowe will be held Thursday, June 28th at 1 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church, 1200 N. Trade St. in Winston-Salem, N.C. Viewing will begin at 12 Noon.
