Health Policy Journalist Training -- In VEGAS

From David Lemmon, Families USA:

On behalf of Families USA, I would like to invite you to attend our upcoming National Health Policy Training for Communities of Color.

The National Health Policy Journalism Training for Communities of Color is hosting two days of training for journalists on Tuesday, July 30, 2012 and Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Conveniently, our training is taking place just before the UNITY Convention which begins the evening of Wednesday, August 1 and ends Saturday, August 4th. The UNITY Convention will also be held in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV – another added convenience.

This training is designed to bring attention to health policy issues that affect communities of color and to ensure that journalists have the tools, resources, and information they need to report on these topics.

During the skills-building sessions, several talented journalists will share their wealth of experience by covering topics such as basic health policy reporting and new media journalism. We have also invited several policy experts for our sessions that focus on health disparities, health reform, and state and national perspectives on health care reform.

If you have questions regarding this training or you are just looking for more information please contact Elizabeth Prescott (eprescott@familiesusa.org) or Airrion Andrews (aandrews@familiesusa.org) by email or dial 202-628-3030 and ask for either by name.

If you would like to register, you can do so online here or download our registration form and return it to eprescott@familiesusa.org or fax to 202-347-2117.

Please note: A discounted registration is available for those attendees that pre-register and we will also make fellowships available based on need. If you would like to apply for a fellowship, while filling out the registration please indicate the type of assistance you need and complete the online registration or return the form to eprescott@familiesusa.org or fax it to 202-347-2117.  Pre registration ends on June 22, 2012.

We hope you will be able to attend this training. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

David Lemmon
