Brittney Johnson named WSOC weekend morning news anchor/reporter

Brittney Johnson

Brittney Johnson has been named weekend morning news anchor/reporter, WSOC-TV news director Julie Szulczewski announced.

Johnson joined the Channel 9 News team as a reporter in March 2015.
“Brittney is a valuable reporter who provides details and perspective to the big stories each day,” Szulczewski said. “Because of her commitment, we are proud to offer her the next step in her career right here at Channel 9.”

Johnson, a graduate of West Charlotte High School, worked as an anchor/reporter at KARK 4/FOX 16 News in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Monroe, Louisiana, before returning to her home state.

Johnson graduated from Howard University and furthered her studies at the University of California Berkeley, where she earned a master's degree in journalism. During her time at Berkeley, she also worked for The Washington Post and traveled overseas to report on health issues in rural India.

Throughout her career, Brittney's reporting has garnered an Emmy nomination and recognition from community groups and The Associated Press.
