Steve Crump's New Documentary




Join the Gantt Center for the exclusive preview of Quiet Valor and Silent Strength. Produced by local documentarian, WBTV News Reporter and NABJ Member Steve Crump. This new documentary highlights the contributions of the United States Colored Troops (USCT) and their various roles during the Civil War. Crump will lead a panel discussion after the film.
The USCT participated in the final battle at Appomattox where more than 5,000 troops were present for Robert E. Lee’s surrender – their losses included 300 men who died in Fort Olustee, Florida.
The documentary also follows a group of African-American reenactors to Fort Wagner, SC, which provided the story line for the 1989 American war film “Glory” and showcases a recent grand review of troops along Pennsylvania Avenue in our nation’s capital.
Quiet Valor and Silent Strength will air locally on WBTV's Bounce TV, Monday, February 15 at 7:30 pm and on WTVI PBS Charlotte, Tuesday, February 16 at 8:30 pm and at 11:30 pm. The film will rebroadcast on WTVI on Saturday, February 20 at 5:00 pm.
