The Johnson C. Smith University junior maintains a 3.8 GPA, and is on the President's List and the Dean's List. She is president of the Communication Arts Association, co-manager of the yearbook staff, and completed an internship at KISS 103.3 in Columbia, SC.

"Her ability to serve her community while maintaining the highest scholastic standards speaks to her tenacity," Mitchell says, even in the face of adversity.
Amber's father was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease.
While pulling close to her family, Amber still finds time to volunteer for Saturday Academy at JCSU, and at Bruns Elementary School.
We could think of no better recipient to represent the next generation of journalism. Congratulations, Amber!
